What will I learn?
  • Gain an understanding of the specific workplace safety concerns within a F&B setting.
  • Be able to apply basic elimination and substitution methods to reduce workplace hazards in an F&B setting.
  • Acknowledge and comply with the necessary and relevant WSH legal requirements.
  • Be able to identify WSH issues in accordance with organizational procedures.
  • Adhere to the risk control measures implemented in the workplace after having carried out the necessary review and internal audits; quality assurance controls.
  • Confidently convey risk and control measures to all personnel that may come into contact with the hazards and risks identified during the internal review process.
Who should attend?
  • Existing food service sector employees who would like to upskill and/or obtain a recognised certification.
  • New hires without any prior experience.
  • Matured students going through mid-career change and/or women back-to-work.
  • This course is suitable for low wage workers.
Assessment Method
At the end of the course, participants must undergo a summative assessment that includes oral and practical segments. This evaluation typically takes 1.5 hours but may extend beyond the stated course hours, depending on the individual pace of each learner.
Attendance Policy
Trainees must attend all classes, arrive on time, and stay for the full duration.
To be eligible for funding (if applicable):
  • A minimum of 100% attendance is required.
  • All assessments must be completed and successfully attained a ‘Competent’ grading in the final assessment.
A WSQ certificate will be awarded to those who meet attendance and competency requirements.
Certification
Participants who successfully complete the course (i.e. meet the required attendance and pass the assessments) will receive a Statement of Attainment (SOA) accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG). The trainer will provide information about what to do if a participant is unable to successfully complete the course.
Course details:
Ensuring workplace safety and health (WSH) is of paramount importance in Singapore's dynamic food and beverage industry. The Ministry of Manpower's (MOM) annual WSH statistics report for the years 2018-2020 reveals that the F&B sector witnessed around 932 workplace injuries, with an incidence rate ranging between 2.3 to 2.8 per 1000 employees.
The Workplace Safety and Health for Food and Beverage Operations (Level 2) course aims to equip the objective of the programme is to ensure that all employees in the food service sector are aware of the importance of workplace safety and are able to understand and comply with workplace safety procedures and processes in restaurants and kitchens.
